Scott's of Mayfair menu by Kris Schubert, contact - ecroone78@o2.pl

Oysters and Cocktails at Scott's

Nearest tube: Bond Street
Now it's back to Mayfair for an indulgent evening of dinner and cocktails at the historic seafood restaurant and oyster bar, Scott's (www.scotts-restaurant.com/) of Mayfair. Scott's is over 150 years old and was Ian Fleming's favourite restaurant. In the novels, James Bond also dined here occasionally ordering 'dressed crab and black velvet or roast grouse and pink champagne'.

Scott's of Mayfair menu by Kris Schubert, contact - ecroone78@o2.pl

Fleming adored good English food, in particular Colchester oysters, scrambled eggs and grilled sole. An English savoury dish, he said, was the best food in the world, accompanied by a little pink champagne. Scott's current menu still offers many of Fleming's favourite dishes, like Angels on Horseback (oysters wrapped in bacon on toast) and Scotch Woodcock - scrambled eggs crisscrossed with anchovies.

And if rumours are to be believed, Scott's is also the place Fleming first heard the words, "dry Martini, shaken not stirred".
