Romeo and Juliet

Music is a living part of Britain's cities and this has helped shape the identity and attitudes of countless UK bands, such as The Beatles and Liverpool, The Smiths and Manchester, David Bowie and London, to name but a few.

British cities are a source of inspiration, a place where bands get together, talents are developed and sounds are perfected. It's where you can see legendary concerts and catch new up-and-coming bands before they make it big.

Theatre is also part of everyday life in Britain – this is the home of Shakespeare after all. A West End show is a ‘must’ for any trip to London, and don’t be surprised if on your travels around Britain you frequently encounter street performers reciting monologues or lively buskers banging away on drums.

If you’re a movie-goer, you’re also in for a treat. Not only do our cinemas feature both mainstream and underground world cinema, but Britain itself has provided the backdrop to numerous blockbusters. And our acclaimed movie industry is second to none.

Throughout the year you’ll find festivals of cinema jazz, dance and animated theatre, plays, live music, opera, fringe theatre, comedy and cabaret. There’s so much choice, you’ll never hear the words ‘I’m just not into theatre’.
